During COVID-19 infested 2020 year, where people were being encouraged to social distance and separate from one another, God had other plans in Mountain House California. On October 22nd, 2020 at 7pm, under the leadership of Grace Bible Church (Hayward) Elders, Deacon Steven Clough and his family hosted their first at-home bible study series. Many were invited to attend in-person, and over Zoom. The series subject was “Covenant Theology,” a very timely subject on the blessed, inseparable, and binding relationship sinners have with God Almighty as a consequence of the perfect righteousness and atoning blood of Jesus Christ according to God’s eternal purposes. It was a wonderful time, where men, women and children gathered to eat dinner, pray, and open the Word of God to hear from him on his eternal redemptive plan which He had planned and executed in Christ, our covenant surety. The relationships of those who attended were strengthened, our hearts were both encouraged and challenged, and our minds were broadened to God’s Word, made up of two Covenant’s: the Old and the New. We were just delighted to meet every week. As it grew, one of the Elder’s recommended that we find a bigger location for the bible study to capacitate the people that were regularly attending, with the potential to grow. This is where the trajectory for public worship began to take a turn for the best. Through this study which lasted almost 2 years, the Lord was forming and gathering his Church to begin a fuller and more visible expression of worship in the Tracy area.
In February of 2022, we searched and found a larger building than the space at the Clough home to capacitate a growing community. Two months later, we found a bigger building to conduct our Thursday Night Bible Studies, which is where we are today. The Lord preserved us as we completed “Covenant Theology” and moved into a verse-by-verse exposition of the Gospel of John.
Through much prayer, evangelism, the Lord sending help from miles away of faithful men and women to support in the work, it seemed good to our Sovereign Savior to grace us to have our first worship service on January 8th, 2023. We have been worshipping as a local body of believers in the Sovereign Grace of God since then, enjoying the privilege of Worshipping the True and Living God, the prize of exalting the Son, the pleasure of serving one another and our community in Tracy by the Spirit of God.
