Statement of Faith
1. The Holy Scripture
We believe that Holy Scripture is the written revelation of the one true God, through the instrumental means of holy men. It is verbally inspired by God the Holy Spirit, it is inerrant, infallible, absolute in its authority, and is sufficient for a true knowledge of God, self, salvation, and sanctification. The Holy Scripture is the complete Word of God, forming a complete and closed cannon of both Old and New Testament, with a total of 66 books from Genesis to Revelation, with its supreme and central subject being Jesus Christ the Son of God. We believe that by Holy Scripture alone (Sola Scriptura), the Christian has everything necessary for both life and godliness. The Word of God therefore is the standard for the Christian worldview, the rule for a worthy walk, the basis of God glorifying Worship, and the exclusive weapon by which the Christian wages a good warfare. Psalms 19:7-11; Psalm 40:6-7; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; John 1:1; Ephesians 6:17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12; 10:5-10; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Revelation 19:10
2. God (Theology)
We believe that God is one essence, subsisting in three coequal, coeternal, and coexistent persons – namely the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is Triune. God is without mixture or division an infinite, immutable, impassible, eternal, transcendent, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, completely sovereign, spiritual, personal, holy, righteous, just, jealous for his own glory, loving, gracious, merciful, truthful, patient, faithful, all-wise, good, and an all-consuming fire. By his independent and eternal counsel, all things that exist outside of the Triune God, whether visible or invisible, were decreed, ordained, created, and sovereignly governed by God providentially to their final, predetermined end, according to his own predetermined purposes. Exodus 34:5-7; Psalms 90:2; 139:1-12
3. Man & Sin (Anthropology/Hamartiology)
We believe that man was created by God morally upright in his image and likeness to glorify him and enjoy him forever within the Covenant of Works through having dominion over the created order and filling the world with children of God. However, Adam, the first representative head of all mankind, transgressed God’s holy law and plunged mankind into a state of universal death and depravity. Man, now is born in sin, born separated spiritually from God, inheriting a corrupted body, a depraved heart, and deserving the eternal and just condemnation of God without the ability to extricate himself from being a slave to sin and the whole human race are subjects of God’s wrath. Genesis 3; 6:5; Rom. 1:18-32; 3:10-18; 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3
4. Christ (Christology)
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the second person of the Trinity, equal with the Father and the Spirit, God of very God. We believe he was sent of the Father into the world, conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary his mother, born of a virgin in his incarnation, having no mixture or confusion of his divine or human nature in one person. He is the only Savior of the world, the only Redeemer of all his elect, the only satisfying Sacrifice and substitute for sinners. He is the only Head over the Church, the Last Adam, who was anointed by the Spirit as Prophet, Priest, and King at his baptism. He fulfilled the covenant of works by obeying God’s law perfectly in his life, establishing a perfect righteousness, and as the Lamb of God, bore the sins of his people and suffered their penalty of God’s wrath, legally propitiating for the sins of His people in his death. He rose from the dead bodily on the third day, bringing forth the justification of everlasting life for all who believe, establishing the covenant of grace. He ascended back to heaven, where He was exalted to the right hand of God with all power, authority, dominion, and honor, to sovereignly rule over all as Lord, subduing all of God’s enemies under his feet, continuously mediates for his people. Matthew 1:19-25; Luke 1:26-35; 2:5-7; John 1:14; Romans 4:25; Galatians 4:4-5; 1 Corinthians 15:1-6, 20-28
5. The Holy Spirit & Salvation (Pneumatology/ Soteriology)
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the blessed Trinity, who graciously and effectually applies all of blessings of the atoning work of Jesus Christ on the cross to all his elect people. The Holy Spirit was sent by Christ into the world, to testify of Jesus Christ by the gospel, to regenerate spiritually dead sinners by the power of the gospel, through indwelling them and imparting unto them a saving faith, by which they are legally declared by God as righteous, uniting them to the imputed righteousness of Christ. We believe that sinners are saved by the sovereign grace of God alone (Sola gratia), through the gift of faith alone (Sola fide), in Christ alone (Sola Christos), to the glory of God alone (Soli Deo Gloria), apart from any works, according to the scriptures alone (Sola Scriptura). In other words, salvation is the sovereign work of God alone. The Holy Spirit effectually draws us to Christ, is the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry to the heavenly Father, is the earnest of our inheritance, the indwelling seal that preserves us until the day of redemption, the Helper, and Comforter, who strengthens us, and conforms us into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit glorifies Christ in our hearts, enables us to persevere in repentance, faith, good works, and in the assurance of our future hope of salvation all the way to the end. The Holy Spirit ensures that none for whom Christ died lose their salvation (this is impossible). John 3:3-5; 6:44-45; 14:16; 15:26; 16:13-14; Romans 8:15; Ephesians 1:13-14; 2:4-10; Galatians 4:6
6. The Church (Ecclesiology)
We believe the Church is the covenant assembly of the Triune King, called from all nations, kindred, tribe, and tongue to be his holy Temple. It is built by God the Father, through God the Son, by God the Holy Spirit, where Jesus Christ is Chief Cornerstone. Jesus is the Head of the Church, his body, bone, and bride, which he purchased by His own blood. It is the place where God’s glory dwell, Christ’s fullness is displayed, and the covenant blessings of God is communicated to God’s elect. It is the place where God’s people worship him and serve him as HIS “royal priesthood”, who “show forth the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9) The Church is the universal and invisible body of Christ consisting of all God’s elect throughout human history and is visibly manifested as the local fellowship and assembly of believers. The Church is the pillar and ground of the truth, committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ being preached for the edification of the body, equipping of the saints for service, and evangelizing the world for sinners’ salvation. The Church is committed to maintaining the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, observing God’s ordinances, discipleship, spiritual warfare, and carrying out Church discipline under God ordained male leadership in the Church (Pastors/Elders & Deacons) – to the glory of God in Christ. Matthew 16:18; 28:18-20; Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:19-22; 4:1-3, 11-13; 1 Timothy 3:15
7. The Last Things (Eschatology)
We believe that Jesus Christ will return a second and final time where He will bring about a general resurrection of the dead, consummate the Kingdom (to which the believing Jews and Gentiles await), bring about the Day of Judgement, execute vengeance and judgement upon the wicked, casting everyone that offends into the lake of fire to suffer the eternal punishment of God, do away with the Old Heavens and Earth to create and establish the New Heaven’s and New Earth wherein dwells righteousness. John 5:27-29; 1 Thessalonians 1:7-10; 4:15-18; 2 Peter 3:13
